KONICZYNA

Naturally growing public sculpture
See more

Koniczyna is an ultralight construction made up of three FiDU steel arches. Put together they create the effect of naturally growing bionic sculpture. Koniczyna’s polished surface constantly reflects the surroundings and gives an amazing game of lights, therefore its appearance changes throughout the day.

Symbol of nature, growing, also symbol of hard work, like startups and tech companies inside buildings.

Production of Koniczyna sculpture was very challenging. The form consists of elements twisting 90 degrees around their axis. Something seemingly easily for nature to create is difficult to recreate in one form in FiDU, and impossible in any other.  It was necessary to combine the work of automated production robots with human labor. As a result, a bionic form with a unique shape was created Thanks to “inflating” it with compressed air, the metal forms become durable and stable, maintaining its lightness at the same time.

Inspired by nature, technologically advanced art

Sculpture is a new hand in developer architecture. It became a symbol of development, a showcase that changed the character of the building and created a cohesive space conducive to business.

The organic shapes are the result of parametric design. This innovative domain operating in architecture, engineering and city planning relies on software which allows to generate blocks on the basis of combined input of parameters. Forms are generated during the process of computer shaping, which can surprise the creator of the sculpture himself. Thanks to the initial parameters, the final shapes fulfill practical goals, such as optimal size, weight, adaptation to the environment.
