Reminder: FHN Tenant Rights & Responsibilities Workshop Tonight!
The Foothills Housing Network, in partnership with Legal Aid Works, is hosting a free Tenant Rights & Responsibilities workshop TONIGHT - Thursday, November 1st.  The workshop will provide tenants, landlords, and other housing stakeholders with information on tenant responsibilities and rights related to rental housing agreements.  A question and answer period will follow the presentation by Legal Aid Works, and light refreshments will be provided.

The Foothills Housing Network (FHN) is the partnership of organizations working to prevent and end homelessness within the Rappahannock-Rapidan region.  FHN is responsible for planning and implementing the regional homeless services system, which connects those experiencing homelessness and those at risk of homelessness to the providers best suited to meet their needs. The Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission serves as lead agency for FHN.  More information on the Foothills Housing Network is available at http://www.foothillshousing.org or by contacting Jenny Biché at jkbiche@rrregion.org.

Regional Commission Adopts Resolution Honoring John Coates
At its October 24th meeting, the Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission adopted a Resolution Honoring the Life and Service of John Coates, who sadly passed away on September 14, 2018.  Mr. Coates served as a Citizen representative to the Commission from Culpeper County for more than six years, beginning his term in January 2012 until the time of his passing, and was a valued member of the Commission, Culpeper County, and Rappahannock-Rapidan region communities.  He also was the recipient of the 2016 RRRC Regional Distinguished Leadership Government Award.

Mr. Coates' passion for the region, commitment to service to the community, depth of knowledge and memory about the region, and his jovial demeanor will be greatly missed by his fellow colleagues and the staff at the Regional Commission.

Chesapeake Bay Watershed Implementation Plan Phase III Update
Over the past four months, Regional Commission staff, local government administrators and planners, and regional stakeholders have collaborated on a regional planning process to provide input to phase III of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Implementation Plan.  Input and participation has been received from local jurisdiction representatives, Culpeper & John Marshall Soil and Water Conservation Districts, the Virginia Departments of Health, Forestry, Transportation, and Environmental Quality, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Friends of the Rappahannock, Piedmont Environmental Council, land trust representatives, and private construction firms.

A meeting for interested stakeholders from the region covering both the urban/septic/developed process and a parallel effort for the agriculture sector to review results to date will be held on Thursday, December 6th from 9am to Noon at the American Legion Hall 247 near Remington.  This meeting will include participation by multiple Planning District regions, Soil & Water Conservation Districts, and state representatives.
