THE YOUNG MATHEMATICAL STORY AUTHOR (YMSA) COMPETITION - TEACHER VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Since we have recently launched the Young Mathematical Story Author (YMSA) competition, we have received so much interests from teachers around the world on the competition. Many of them asked for examples of story picture books created by students. We are thus looking for teacher volunteers who can get their students to create their own story picture book (on any mathematical topic of their choice) between now and January.

Our plan is to upload a few examples of well-written mathematical story picture books on the Competitions webpage in January 2019, three months before the entry submission deadline.

If you think you can help, please let us know!

LESSON IDEAS

Our latest On-line Contributor (Madeline Price) would like to share with you how she used Matthew McElligott's 'Bean Thirteen' to help her Grade 5 students in Texas learn the concept of prime and composite numbers. Click here to read her lesson idea

We hope her lesson idea will inspire you to give this creative approach of mathematics teaching a go yourself!

If you have recently used a story in your mathematics teaching and would like to share your experience with fellow teachers and parents globally, consider becoming part of our growing team of On-line Contributors! Click here for more details.
