October 2018
Hey everyone,

It feels like it wasn't that long ago I was sending out last month's newsletter...

We published fewer articles than usual on the blog in October. This was due to my having been involved in a number of other poker-related projects that have required my attention, a couple of which I can't wait to tell you about in the hopefully very near future. Stay tuned...

Meanwhile, November is set to be quite a busy month as well, and I'll be kicking it off with a bang, as I'm flying out tomorrow to Malta to attend and cover the inaugural Malta Poker Festival. There's a lot I'm looking forward to doing while there (you can read about it, here) and of course I'll be spending plenty of time in the poker room. If you'll be around, be sure to come say hi, and I'll of course be happy to give you a Cardplayer Lifestyle patch. #patchrungood 😃

Thanks, as always, to the iNinja Poker Tour for sponsoring this newsletter. Tour co-owner and WSOP $10K H.O.R.S.E. bracelet winner Chris "Fox" Wallace penned a great article entitled Backing 101 – A Guide to Finding, Negotiating, and Profiting From Backing Deals, which makes for some really interesting reading. Be sure to check it out.

ASK THE POKER EXPERTS

Back this month after a brief hiatus is our Ask the Poker Experts column. A distinguished panel of professional poker players consisting of Lena Evans, Maureen Bloechlinger, Jamie Kerstetter, and David Lappin assembled to provide some great answers to a thorny problem faced by a number of winning low-limit players, namely "being too scared to move up in stakes." There's a lot to be gained from reading the piece beyond the simple mathematical considerations.

I NEED YOUR HELP... NO, REALLY! THIS IS A CALL FOR HELP!

Some of our more astute fans have noticed that Cardplayer Lifestyle's Facebook page has disappeared. I regret to inform you that Facebook has decided to "unpublish" the page due to the fact that "we promote and facilitate online gambling without prior authorization."

Thus far, their appeals process has not yielded results, and quite frankly I'm not really sure what to do at this point. So, perhaps one of the Cardplayer Lifestyle faithful has experience dealing with this sort of issue and would be kind enough to lend us a hand? Any and all help + ideas would be most appreciated. Please be in touch.

"RUNNING WELL" 1,000 km charity poker challenge update!

With two months left to go in 2018, I've completed 825km thus far towards my 1,000km goal, and have raised $8,144 in pledges, with a goal of hopefully making it to $10,000 by the end of the year.

Special thanks to our longtime friend and fan David Edel, who so generously pledged 77 cents per kilometer ($770) towards the cause. We also succeeded in raising an additional $306 in funding via a fun charity poker night I ran last week.

As a reminder, this year's beneficiary, Save a Child's Heart (SACH) aims to improve the quality of pediatric cardiac care for children in developing countries. You can learn more about their amazing work in this short video.

There's plenty room for more of you to join in support of the cause. So, if you or the company you work for would like to make a pledge (all monies donated directly by you), please email me.

As with last year's challenge, you're all invited to follow my progress via Twitter at #charitypoker1000km.

As always, your feedback, constructive or otherwise, is most welcome.

Thanks so much once again for your support and best of luck at and away from the tables!
