Hey <<First Name>>~

Excting news! I'm on House of Cards and it dropped on Netflix yesterday! You can see me in the situation room with Robin Wright in the final episode on Season 6, Episode 8, "Chapter 73".
Although Claire Underwood may not be the leader of the free world one would want, Robin Wright, the woman who portrays her, just might be.  All kidding aside, I have to say I was truly impressed. Robin showed exemplary leadership on set as an actor and director. After Kevin Spacey left the show last season under a cloud of scandal, Robin chose to step into leadership, keeping hundreds of artists at work and ushering in a way of working that fostered a sense family, as well as promoted respect and creativity. Her professionalism and kindness in the workplace is something to strive for.  Working with her, I was reminded that shining lights are out there even in what feels like dark times.
How can we all step up as leaders in our own spheres of influence? Did you know that just like Robin Wright, you are a beautiful human with incredible power?

I say this knowing full well that things have been tough out there. In the wake of the mass shootings in Pittsburgh, troubling bomb threats, Supreme Court monkey trials and political insanity, I realize that many of us are walking around with a stunned and heavy heart and a french-fried nervous system.

I get it. In my own struggle,  I've been tempted to either rage online, numb out on YouTube or blindly throw myself into activity. But none of these things truly alleviate the heartache or lessen the sense of futility.  So what can we do?

Stop.
Stand in the feelings.
Listen deep within.
Let the best of yourself emerge.

What? DO nothing? Just stand there? Yes, I know it sounds crazy, but yes.

At times when there is seemingly nothing to do, there is plenty to BE.

I can BE the calm in the face of chaos; I can BE the love in the face of racism, forgiveness in the face of vengefulness, wisdom in the face of stupidity and courage in the face of evil.

When the world seems so disconnected, we can be our own WiFi hotspot of light and calm.  So, for today, let's choose to stop, stand in the fire of our feelings, listen to our own voice and only then, act from the best part of ourselves.

I love you and I'm so grateful that you are part of my tribe.

Emerge on!
💕Sarah
