The Coventry 3D Meeting is this Saturday 3rd November 2018, we have a packed programme with a talk about Holography by Dr Martin Richardson including a live demonstration of how to make a hologram, followed after the break by projection of Third Dimension Society’s 55th Stereo Exhibition.
Holograms remain an overlooked area of three-dimensional imaging, primarily due to the technical issues involved in production.
This demonstration by Martin Richardson will explore a simple technique on ‘how to make a hologram’ and promises to dissolve some of the myth surrounding this amazing technology.
Dr. Richardson is Professor of Modern Holography and Head of The Imaging and Displays Research Group (IDRG) at De Montfort University, Leicester. He gained the Royal Photographic Societies ARPS in 2009, and in 2011 The Saxby Medal in recognition of his sustained pioneering contributions to the science and technology of holographic imaging and to the physical understanding of its materials and applications.
After the refreshment break will be projection of
Third Dimension Society’s 55th Stereo 3D Exhibition. Projection of all the accepted entries to the latest internationally respected competition. The Exhibition has two sections: “Digital Reality”; traditional photographic digital images, and “Digital Altered Reality”; manipulated photographic digital images, which proved very popular with some very creative work.
This is always a very popular show where members have the opportunity to see their own entries projected as well as many marvellous 3D images from around the world.
Doors open at 2pm for a 2:30pm start, finishing by 5pm.
Entrance: £3.00 including refreshments. First time visitors free.

At the Cardiff Convention 2017 I talked about some of the 3D images from the First World War and mentioned that they were part of a wider project – Views of an Antique Land – which was collecting photographs of Egypt and Palestine taken during the war.
Amateur Photographer are about to publish a piece on the project in their November 10th issue which goes on sale on November 6th and which is commemorating the Armistice. Unfortunately there are no stereoviews in the article but I thought people might be interested to know of it.
and the project can be followed on Facebook at WW1 Images of Egypt and Facebook @ww1imagesegypt.
