The Downtown Urban Farm Project is taking its first step toward revitalizing a long-neglected parcel of land on 3rd Avenue in Anchorage. Once the site of the Alaska Native Medical Center, these 15 acres along Ship Creek currently lay bare and underutilized.
But, with your help, change is coming! The Alaska Food Policy Council-- a statewide non-profit organization focused on strengthening Alaska's food systems -- was granted a permit by the Municipality of Anchorage to install 6-8 raised beds and begin growing produce. Your donation will support the installation of these beds and the planting of fruits and vegetables.
What the project needs now is SUPPORT to build the raised beds and be ready to grow in Spring 2019. Soil has already been donated(!), and we now need to purchase lumber for the beds, bed liner, seeds, and some gardening tools. Will you help us raise $2,000 (or more) to make it happen?
