The Biweekly News of Paradise Valley Christian Preparatory

One of PVCP's most exciting ways to support the school is just around the corner - the virtual auction! You'll have the opportunity to bid on dozens of incredible items from the comfort of your own home, just in time for the holidays, all while supporting the ministry of PVCP! We already have some great items, including a cabin on the beautiful Big Deschutes River in Oregon, the opportunity to be a Standard Bearer at the Phoenix Open in February, a suite at an Arizona Diamondbacks game, a gorgeous Country Christmas Vintage Wagon, dozens of restaurant gift certificates, and more!  We can still use your help, however, securing additional items to make the auction an even greater success. Please consider what businesses you know and frequent that might be willing to donate an item or service for the auction. You can find helpful forms to assist in the acquisition process online here.  All items should be brought to Jan McInnis in the office by November 9.

The auction will also feature several "Teacher Treasures," which are sought-after activities that your student can participate in with his or her favorite teacher. Here's a sampling of this year's Teacher Treasures:

Panther Press

The next Panther Press will be sent Monday, November 19. For class information and teacher updates you can visit faculty websites or the school calendar. For additional questions, please call the office at 602-992-8140 ext. 2211. For PAC inquiries contact Carey Broadwater at 602-430-3080 or carey@kbcm-inc.com.
Project SHINE is officially in full swing! Tuition covers only a portion of PVCP's expenses, the rest of which must be made up through fundraising and donations. This means we must raise roughly an additional $1,383 per student in attendance, and Project SHINE is one of the ways we do that. The Project SHINE fundraising goal is $50,000.

If you didn't get a chance to send addresses with your student, you can still help us fundraise by sending an e-mail blast to your friends and family. Below you'll find a couple of samples you can modify to meet the needs of your student's class. If you have any questions, you may reach out directly to Janette Baranski at janettebaranski@gmail.com.

Option #1

Dear [name],

I’m writing to tell you about a unique opportunity I have through my school, Paradise Valley Christian Preparatory. Every year, we host a serve-a-thon, Project SHINE, where students learn the importance of volunteering throughout the community while supporting their school. Instead of simply doing a walk-a-thon to raise money, serving gives us the chance to meet the needs of others. My class will be serving with [specific organization] This service project will occur on [specific date].

Would you please consider making a tax-deductible donation to Paradise Valley Christian Preparatory to sponsor me while I serve? We have a goal of raising $50,000 total, and any amount you can contribute would bring us closer to this goal. To make a secure online donation, simply click here or visit https://pvcp.revv.co/shine. When making a donation, be sure to enter my name in the space provided.

Thank you so much for your support!

Sincerely,

[student name]

Option #2

Dear [name],

You have all heard of a walk-a-thon.  You commit money - someone walks.

You have heard of a phone-a-thon.   A group calls potential donors until they reach their fundraising goal.

But what if we could raise funds for our school and serve our community at the same time?  That's exactly what we do at Paradise Valley Christian Preparatory through our annual serve-a-thon, Project SHINE!
Through SHINE, students get to serve in the community all while supporting the ministry of PVCP. The tuition at Paradise Valley Christian Preparatory leaves our school with about $1,500 of uncovered costs per student. The total goal for the SHINE serve-a-thon is $50,000, and with your help, we can reach that and make our community a better place!

My class is going to serve with [specific organization]This service project will occur on [specific date].  I promise that I will serve my heart out to make this a great day.  Will you help me? To make a secure, online donation, click here or follow this link: https://pvcp.revv.co/shinePlease be sure to enter my name in the space provided when you make your donation.

I’m excited to see what we can do together, and thank you so much for your support! Go Panthers!

Sincerely,
[student name]

Reenrollment for 2019 Opens Nov. 9

In response to the large increase in new family enrollment during the 2018-2019 school year, we have made the decision to open up reenrollment earlier and begin open enrollment in January. By doing so, we have more of an opportunity to fill classes earlier, giving us a greater possibility to split classes as numbers increase, thereby providing your students with the best possible education. Reenrollment will begin on November 9, and open enrollment for new families will begin on January 1.

Steps to Reenrolling:

Please complete the following steps to complete your child's reenrollment for the 2019-2020 school year:

1. Log in to the Parent Portal.
2. Click on tab labeled "Online Forms."
3. Select the student, select the "2019/20 Reenrollment Form" and click "Start New Form."
Most of the student's info will be automatically populated. Please only change if necessary.
4. Once you have completed the form, click on "Shopping Cart (Submit)" under "Application Actions" in the left menu.
5. You will be brought to a checkout page where you will be required to pay the reenrollment fee. No processing fees will be charged for either ACH or credit card payments.
6. Once the payment method has been entered, please click "Confirm."
7. You will receive a confirmation e-mail that your reenrollment has been processed for that student.

*Repeat steps 2 through 7 for any additional children.

Please note, if a family's account balance is greater than $500, the family will need to pay their balance prior to beginning the reenrollment process. You may contact Anna Tracy at 602-992-8140 x2241 or atracy@pvcp.org to discuss your account.

The student medical form and family contacts update will be available for completion this summer.

Max Capacity by Grade Level:

1st - 5th: 22
6th-8th: 24
9th-12th: 24

2019-2020 Tuition

Every school year around mid-year, the Board and Administration prayerfully discuss and establish the tuition schedule for the subsequent year. The board makes every possible effort to ensure that any potential increase is kept to a minimum. As soon as 2019-2020 tuition levels are available, those numbers will be presented to the PVCP community.

Dual Enrollment

Parents of sophomores through seniors should have received an e-mail detailing our upper school dual enrollment program whereby students can receive college credit for courses they are already taking at PVCP. We are now offering dual enrollment through Colorado Christian University, and sophomores in Mr. Day's NT Bible class and juniors and seniors in Mrs. Van Dam's American and British Literature classes are eligible. You may register online here. The deadline for registration is November 15. No late registrations will be accepted.

Picture Retakes

Picture Retakes are first thing in the morning of November 7. No tardies, please. If you have questions regarding your original pictures or retakes, please call Monica at Lifetouch:  480-621-8436.

Uniform Collection

Please bring your gently used and outgrown uniforms at morning drop-off to The Hub, located in the front office, on Friday, November 9. This is a collection only - no exchanges this day. Your family's credit will be recorded to be used at the school-wide Uniform Exchange in January. We will not accept lower/middle school polo/collared shirts, PE uniforms, or the old plaid (pre-2018); the old plaid may be donated to the upper school Italy team for a clothing drive. An additional collection date will be on December 14.

Upper School Italy Trip

Hello PVCP Families!

This year, our juniors and seniors have the opportunity to embark on an educational trip to Italy at the end of the school year. They have commenced fundraising activities and have hosted a successful garage sale earlier this month. In light of this, on November 10, they will host another garage sale at Scottsdale Bible Church on the Cactus Campus. Donations of any size, including furniture, will be accepted beginning Wednesday, October 24, at either drop off or pickup. Any unsold items will be sent to a clothing drive which will pay the school per pound. We encourage all families to bring in any donations to support our Upper School!

Where:  Scottsdale Bible Church-Cactus Campus, 2501 E. Cactus Rd.
(Just east of PVCP).
When:  November 10, 7 a.m. - 1 p.m.

In addition to the garage sale, the fundraising team is also setting up a Rent a Student program in which families can hire an upper school student to assist in any capacity, such as yard work, babysitting, packing, moving, cleaning, pet walking, dog waste pick up, etc!  To "rent-a -student" e-mail Lynn Nixon at lynix118@gmail.com

Thank you,
The Italy Fundraising Team

PVCP 2nd Annual Powder Puff Game

Thank you all for coming to the 2nd Annual Powder Puff Game! A great time was had by all! Thank you to Mr. Seyler and all the volunteers for setting everything up, the cooks who prepared the great hamburger/hot dog dinner, and to those who helped clean up!

Important Parent Reminder: Parking

We have received notice from Cactus Christian Fellowship that the three reserved church parking spots closest to the church are being parked in by PVCP parents dropping off their children in the mornings. It is problematic when church staff arrive in the morning and there is no place for them to park.

Please note that the three spaces marked reserved for the church are not to be used at any time during the course of the day whether or not they are in use. Please honor this request, as we wish to maintain a good testimony with our church neighbor.

If you are dropping off around 8 a.m. and cars are backed up in both lanes trying to exit by pulling straight through and not looping the full parking lot, if you are in the inside curb lane, please make a full circle around the lot to ease the backup. This will resolve backup for entering and exiting cars on 24th street.
