Marriage, Ministry & Machu Picchu

For 15 days in September, we had the joy of ministering in the country of Peru.  We began in San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima's most populated district,  with Pastor Jose & Marlene from Iglesia La Roca.  We ministered to several families in their homes, offering prayer and words of encouragement.  We were always welcomed with warm hospitality, usually accompanied by something to eat.   We also taught a marriage seminar for the people in his church and preached on Sunday morning.
Then we flew to the city of Cuzco to work with missionaries Chris and Debbie Bowser in the Cuzco region.  We had the privilege of training Quechua pastors and leaders in the cities of Tinta and Quillabamba, nestled in the Andes mountains.  Many in this region are illiterate and most are not educated beyond a second grade level.  Most pastors have had little or no theological training.  Their eagerness to learn and grow as leaders was evident.  After each session, we had some great times of discussion.  They wanted to grapple with tough cultural issues.  Together, we discussed what the Bible had to say about them.  We counted this a great honor and, yet, at the same time, felt the weight of the responsibility this opportunity provided.  We found ourselves asking the Holy Spirit to guide our every word.
We also had the privilege of speaking on the topic of marriage in two churches in the city of Cuzco.  Many couples came forward for prayer afterwards. We believe that God brought some healing to marriages and families that day.
We finished our time there with a quick visit to Machu Picchu, one of the seven wonders of the world.  Admiring the wonders of God's creation and civilization was a wonderful way to wrap up our trip.
Thank you to all of our  ministry partners for making this ministry trip possible.  We believe heaven will be impacted because of it.  Together we do make a difference!!

It was fascinating to walk around Machu Picchu, wondering how all of these huge rocks were moved without modern equipment.

Calling all Opportunists!

Our last newsletter told you about our trip to New Mexico and the needs among our Native American congregations.  We are going to be leading a team to do a desperately needed remodel of a parsonage in the city of Shiprock.  We are looking for those who can partner with us in three ways:

GO:  We need people who can join us to help drywall, roof, do electrical, or plumbing, as well as a few grunt workers (that's where I - Wilma - will come in!). You can come for part of the time we are there or all of the time - see trip information below.

GIVE:  We need those who can give toward this project.  It will cost about $12,000 to do a complete overhaul to the parsonage.  (Updating electrical, replacing roof, new cabinets & flooring.)

PRAY:  for the needed personnel and funds to come in.  Also for the weather to cooperate while we are there and for there to be no major glitches.

TRIP INFORMATION:
DATES:  March 12-26, 2019
PLACE:  Four Corners Community Church, Shiprock, NM
COST:  $350 per person/week.  Covers transportation in NM, food & lodging at work site.    Air fare NOT included.

Prayer Requests
North Dakota:  We will be on a road trip to Minnesota and North Dakota, November 1-12, 2019.  Please pray for safe travels and God's anointing on every service for the next few months.
On a personal note...
We are looking forward to seeing family and friends over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.  We will also be taking a few days for prayer and preparation for 2019.

Thank You!
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to those who have chosen to partner with us as we work to assist the local church in All Things Missions.  Together, we will make a difference, helping every church to do its part to reach the lost locally,
regionally, nationally, and globally - until He comes!
