Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” ~ Isaiah 43:18-19
Fall is in full swing and it has been a beautiful one here in Eugene! Thank you for your prayers for us at the U of O! Your faithful partnership is making a difference on our campus.
I found this fascinating vehicle in my neighborhood. Looks like someone is about ready for an adventure. What adventures have you been on recently?

Fall Breakaway!

What a great weekend! We got to take our students on a retreat last weekend, and for most of them it was their first time ever going on something like this. The theme of the weekend was "Community" and so we took them through Acts 2:42-47, where the first Jesus community is described. We discussed what it means to be apart of a "minimum" church (where everyone just shows up) and a "maximum" church (where everyone participates and is invested). I'm looking forward to seeing how our students continue to take ownership of their role in Chi Alpha and grow in faith together.

Autumn Adventures!

In Chi Alpha, we have the motto, "belong before belief." In essence, this means that people need to feel that they belong and are cared for before they will consider what you believe. Much of this month has been devoted to bonding our community together and I'm encouraged to see how the Lord has been working through it.
I've been especially impressed by some of these ladies' initiative in planning events that are helping to knit our community together. We went to the pumpkin patch together and had some Harvest festivities at my house later in the month--and they planned all of it on their own! They are beginning to take ownership of their roles and our community and that can only help our community to grow.
