Men of Color Group – Felicia & Kwasi
|
|
The Men of Color Process Group meets weekly with the common purpose of exploring the interactions and experiences specific to the relationships, roles and emotional gravity of identifying as a man of color. The rhythm of the group enhances its culture. The group joins each week to explore the ascription of masculinity, first in the family, adverse childhood experiences, sex and relationships, adjustment, fear, and freedom.
Note: Students do not have to be a client of UCC to attend the group.
Time: Fridays 3:30-5:00 pm, beginning on November 2, 2018
Location: Schwartz Room, 3rd floor of UHS

Compete in the Inaugural Creative Collision Challenge
|
|
Social scientists, artists, engineers (and everyone in between) are encouraged to put their resourcefulness to the test in the inaugural Creative Collision Challenge. The Ain Center for Entrepreneurship’s newest competition brings together students from a variety of backgrounds to brainstorm solutions to a pressing social issue in a day-long challenge. Diverse teams will be guided by mentors and experts to devise a solution to a social or cultural issue—framed in a problem statement and revealed the evening before—on Friday, November 16, in Rettner Hall. A panel of judges will select top teams to be awarded cash prizes based on presentations that afternoon. Register here.

UM-SMART is designed for undergraduate students who are potentially interested in obtaining a combined MD/ Ph.D. degree leading to a career in academic medicine focused on basic research relevant to human disease. This program may help you decide if this is the right career for you, and could enhance your competitiveness when applying to MD/PhD programs. Paid Student Opportunity: Public Policy and International Affairs Fellowship
Are you a junior considering a career in public service or international affairs, working with the government, nonprofits, humanitarian and international organizations? Cornell Diversity Preview Weekend 2019 is still seeking applicants

The third annual Graduate Student Diversity Preview Weekend will be held from March 7-10, 2019. Participant housing and meals will be provided, as well as up to $600 in travel expenses. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to Speak on the River Campus
|
|
|
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, a basketball icon, activist, author, actor, and ambassador, will speak at 7 p.m. Monday, November 5, in the Palestra, Goergen Athletic Center. Abdul-Jabbar also will take part in a student roundtable prior to the speech. His talk, “Writings on the Wall: Searching for a New Equality Beyond Black & White,” is the first in a series called Dean’s Initiative: Difficult Conversations as a Catalyst for Change, presented by Donald Hall, the Robert L. and Mary L. Sproull Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Sciences & Engineering.
