Hello Friends!

Long time no see. We know we've been pretty quiet since our last full production (The Original Grease in 2017), working quietly on a couple of original projects we're going to share very soon. But we're over the moon to announce we're back with a unique and obscure musical in January 2019 produced in association with Kings Cross Theatre and Bakehouse Theatre Company

This darkly comic, hilariously disturbing southern gothic tale is a vaudevillian ghost story told by eleven larger than life characters. They just don’t know there’s only one actor in the cast.

1929. The year panic became respectable. Struggling amidst the Great Depression, Alabama’s Nookin family are left with nothing more than a piece of advice at the reading of a wealthy relative’s will: “Culture during hard times does real well.”

When the enterprising father recognises a glimmer of talent in his shy eight year old son, he enlists the assistance of a faded vaudevillian to nurture the child’s skills in the hope of making it big in Hollywood. But when the malevolent spirit of the vaudevillian’s former showbiz partner stealthily highjacks the young boy's body to exact his revenge and stage a comeback, the Nookin family find themselves on the lam and heading toward a finale none of them could ever predict.

BOOK NOW - $35 TICKETS UNTIL DECEMBER 31

Following his appearance in the original Australian company of The Book of Mormon, and a scene-stealing turn in Hayes Theatre Co’s She Loves Me, award-winning actor-director Jay James-Moody (The Drowsy Chaperone) assumes the title role of Herringbone, and the ten other characters that live inside of him.

Herringbone is co-directed by Jay James-Moody and one of Australia’s leading choreographers, Green Room award winner Michael Ralph (Nine The Musical, Dusty, The Boy From Oz), and musically directed by international band leader Benjamin Kiehne (The Original Grease, The Ten Tenors). Rounding out the accomplished production team are acclaimed lighting and set designer Benjamin Brockman (Man of La Mancha, Metamorphosis), and Helpmann Award nominated sound designer Jessica James-Moody (Sweet Charity, Carrie The Musical).

Produced in association with KXT and Bakehouse Productions, Herringbone marks the much anticipated return of leading independent theatre company Squabbalogic from a nearly two year hiatus.
