Working together for a healthy,
connected catchment.
B4C Open Day this Saturday 3rd November
We look forward to welcoming you here this Saturday for our monthly open day from 9am until 12pm with a presentation starting at 9.30am.
Check out our native plant nursery and community gardens. Find out the latest on our projects and what's happening in your catchment. Meet some of our team and find out how you can get more involved with activities in the region.
This month's guest speaker is Rachael Smethurst - fauna spotter, catcher & carer.
Rachael lives and breathes wildlife. Having graduated with a Zoology degree from University of Queensland, she has worked as a snake catcher, fauna spotter, in wildlife management, and also volunteers her time doing wildlife care and rehabilitation. She's also been working with bats in Indonesia! Rachael's passion lies in community education and helping to educate the public to live in harmony with the wildlife surrounding them. Come along and hear about her insights and adventures.
And bring your loose change - we'll have Boomerang Bags, honey and jam for sale (sorry, no EFTPoS). We also have our book swap stand here.

Flower-based Switzel with Linda Brennan FREE. Refreshments served. Bookings required. Saturday 17th November, 10am B4C Sustainability Centre, Carindale
Fermented drinks are all the go, as they provide wonderful support for the gut and digestion. Switzel, also known as Shrub, is an age old drink that’s super easy to make and can be created from a variety of fruit flavours you’ll have in your home orchard or herb garden, (and sometimes your flower garden too.) Gather to learn how to make a seasonal switzel that is delicious and surprisingly good for you too. Enjoy the surrounds of our Sustainability Centre in Carindale. This workshop is supported by the Brisbane City Council Cultivating Community Gardens Grant.
We recently visited the planting at Raymond Road Park, Eight Mile Plains. Ongoing maintenance during the dry winter has been extremely important for our various sites.
Thanks to Department of Environment and Science for funding the establishment of these 600 native plants in June 2018. Thanks to the volunteers from Transurban for their assistance in planting them.
