A Tale of Star-Crossed Lovers

Nyoba Kan partners with KL Shakespeare Players for a new look at the Romeo & Juliet story: a weave of the graceful and grotesque; with wails, words and music and sometimes shocking tableaux. Part of the KL Butoh Festival 2018.

Living Arts Culture Festival 2018

Organised by JKKN, in collaboration with PUSAKA, the inaugural Living Arts Culture Festival is a celebration of cultural heritage of Malaysia and the region. This Festival features 4 UNESCO-recognised intangible cultural heritage traditions -- Mak Yong (Malaysia), Classical Khmer Dance (Cambodia), Saman Dance (Aceh, Indonesia), and Ca Tru Singing (Vietnam).

SUM- The Multicultural Body

Organised by TFA Inner Space Dance Company, this production displays a range of works in Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Odissi and contemporary dance. It is also a warm up to their Australian production in conjunction with the Swan Festival of Lights and the Confluence Festival of India. Limited seats available.

3rd KLDSA Malaysia Open DanceSport Championship 2018

Organised by Kuala Lumpur Dancesport Association, this event features the Malaysian DanceSport Federation (MYDF) 3rd leg National Ranking for 2018-2019. There are many more open events offered with a variety of exciting performances from young dancers to national athletes.

Hollow from the Other Side
Organised by Kongsi KL and T.H.E Dance Company (Singapore), presenting 2 recent works by T.H.E., plus a collaboration of 6 Malaysian dancers and musicians in a site-specific improvisation on the idea of the 'Hollow Body'. There is also a contemporary dance technique workshop.

Melaka Art and Performance Festival 10
Reaching its 10th year since its inception, MAPFest hopes to reclaim the beauty of the natural site and ambience and forgo the ‘staging’ and commodification of the naturally enchanting that exist within the site. Malaysian artists involved Kiea Kuan Nam, Lim Paik Yin, Lee Kien Fei, Rithaudin Abdul Kadir, Yii Kah Hoe, and Chong Keat Aun.

The Dead Bird
Organised by Soubi Sha, elements of butoh and contemporary dance epitomizes the structure and the existence of the four birds from the poetry "The Universal Tree and the Four Birds". Directed by Soubi Sha director Yeow Lai Chee, dramaturgy by Wong Jyh Shyong, and collaborating with four talented local dancers. Part of the KL Butoh Festival 2018.

Jamu 2018, Tradition in Contemporary Dance

Teach Dance to Refugee Students!

ANJEX Arts Project is a project teaching refugee students by JinnD Productions, in partnership with MyDance Alliance. Class will be conducted at CSO Cheras. If you are interested to contribute your professional instruction for free, please contact Beh Chin at JinnDproductions@gmail.com. Any art classes are welcome for students of age 11-14 years old. Class hour: Wednesday 3pm-5pm or Saturday 1pm-3pm.

Malaysian Dancers Abroad

Dalila Samad from ADC will be performing in Ahn Aesoon's piece Here There at Asia Culture Centre in South Korea on 6 to 7 November. I Kimberly Yap and Imran Syafiq from ADC will be in Hong Kong on 7 to 11 November performing and conducting Bharatanatyam and contemporary dance workshops as part of WE Dance by West Kowloon Cultural District. I Wong Chi Ying, former ADC dancer, has left to pursue her Masters at Beijing Dance Academy. I  ADC choreographer Fauzi Amirudin presents his work Cloudburst at the International Dance Festival 2018, on 28 Nov, in Bangkok.
