A Note from GHNA Co-chair Lisa Mann

Dear neighbors,

I’m so glad that October is over. Honestly, it wasn’t such a good month.

The Dodgers succumbed to Boston in the World Series; mail bombs were sent to Presidential critics; a despicable hate crime devastated The Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh; we experienced divisive hearings for a new Supreme Court Justice; and current activities at our southern border made us realize that immigration policy is still a contentious issue.

Thankfully, November is here and we have an election in less than a week! I’m feeling cautiously optimistic that we – the voters – will make a big impact on local, state, and national decisions. But we've got to vote. Apathy will not create change.

I would like to share some coping strategies with you:

Take a breath, and lean in.
Listen, talk, then listen some more.
Love the people in your house and in our wonderful neighborhood!
Be compassionate and practice tolerance. We are all different and that is a good thing!

On The Tree of Life synagogue’s home page it says “Stronger Together” and “Love is stronger than hate.” Let these be our mantras for the month of November in Garfield Heights! And please, take them with you to your polling place!

EARLY VOTING THIS WEEKEND AT JRCC

Please remember to VOTE!

If you registered to vote by mail, you can mail in your ballot postmarked as late as Tuesday. Or you can drop off your mail-in ballot in person at your polling center on Tuesday. If you don't have a mail-in ballot, you can vote at your assigned polling place on Tuesday. Check
HERE for your polling location.

Another very convenient option is to VOTE EARLY this weekend at the Jackie Robinson Community Center, 1020 N. Fair Oaks (just north of Mountain) in the multipurpose room. The hours are Sat. Nov. 3rd and Sun. Nov. 4th, 8am – 4pm. It's a great, hassle free way to avoid long lines on election day, especially since it is so close to us here in Garfield Heights!

And for those who missed the voter registration deadline, never fear, you can still vote! You will be able to cast a provisional ballot under the state’s new conditional voter registration law!
