Greetings from O'Brien Guitars

This past week I just finished building a classical guitar with a student from San José, California.
My classes are always full of stories and jokes, and at the end of the week we have a great guitar that my student built. This week's student also found the French bakery in town and brought some "goodies" by the shop. The secret to building a nice guitar is to have French pastries and Brazilian coffee while building the guitar. Congratulations to John from San Jose!

Last Monday I released my latest Luthier Tips du Jour video. The topic is how to cut the fretboard to length. This simple step can present a problem but here is a simple solution.
By the way, it has been 10 years since I launched my first Luthier Tips du Jour video. Since then I have gotten over 7.5 million views and over 28 thousand subscribers to my Youtube channel. All of my Luthier Tips du Jour videos are available in chronological order on my website. There is even a drop down menu that allows you to toggle between the original Tips du Jour videos, the Tips du Jour Mailbag videos as well as other categories of videos that I have produced over the years. Since this year is the 10th anniversary of the Luthier Tips du Jour videos I am preparing a special treat. It will allow you to download the complete series, present and past videos, as well as allow you to view and download videos that have not been released yet. I will provide more information in the near future. Stay tuned!

It is no secret that I go to Brazil almost every year to teach guitar building courses sponsored by Miguel Cardone of Musictools. While there I have a camera crew following me around and a video is produced for the students. It is more of a souvenir for the students rather than a "How to" video. Here is the intro video to the latest course I taught in Brazil this past July.

If you are interested in learning to build guitars or just want
to see how I build my guitars then schedule a class with me.
If you are in need of a concert quality classical or steel string
guitar then let me know as I would love to build a guitar for you.

Thank you,
