I-75 resurfacing in Turner and Crisp moving to SB lanes
A major Interstate 75 resurfacing project in Turner and Crisp counties will move to southbound lanes tonight.
Contractor Reeves Construction Co. began working on the northbound side in August. Reeves must still put another layer of asphalt down on the northbound lanes, but due to temperatures will start on the southbound side, beginning with the shoulders. The top layer of asphalt is removed, a process called milling, before new asphalt is laid. Motorists should watch for lane closures, heavy equipment and employees on site.
No daytime lane closures are permitted. Single lane closures will be from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. and double lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The resurfacing project begins south of Exit 84/SR 159 in Turner County and ends north of Old Hatley Road in Crisp County, a distance of 14.47 miles. It includes ramps.
The $19.2 million Georgia Department of Transportation project is expected to be finished April 30, 2019. This portion of I-75 hasn't been resurfaced since a widening/reconstruction project was completed in 2003.
