Posted by Keturah Hetrick on Oct. 29, 2018 Trade and tariff lobbying has reached a fever pitch in Washington, with federal lobbying continuing to grow this past quarter over already record numbers. Lobbying on trade and tariff issues has soared in the months since President Trump announced that the U.S. would impose the tariffs on China, Canada, Mexico and the European Union. In this year's second quarter, a record-breaking 1,732 federal lobbying contracts disclosed work on trade and/or tariff issues. Third-quarter work smashed that record, with 1,909 contracts mentioning those issues - an increase of more than 10 percent over Q2. During the same period last year, lobbyists reported one third fewer trade and tariff contracts (1,424) than the comparable period this year..
