City Council Action

Mayor Streit and Chief Lemming presented a Meritorious Conduct Award to Officer Preston Frye at the City Council's Committee of the Whole Meeting on Wednesday, October 17
The City Council took the following action at their meeting on Wednesday, October 17:
  • Approved the Final Development Plan and Special Use Permit for a drive up facility (Arby's Restaurant) for the property at 16545 W. 159th Street
  • Approved the purchase of assorted parkway trees for the Fall 2018 Parkway Tree Planting Program
  • Appointed Joseph Jeraminas to the Lockport Auxiliary Police
  • Approved Easements for a Public Walkway at 16528 Bruce Road
  • Approved an Intergovernmental Agreement between the Forest Preserve District of Will County and the City for the construction and operation of the Veterans Memorial Trial Bike Path Phase 1 portion through Lockport Prime Business Park: Spring Creek to 159th Street

Arby's Drive Thru Coming Soon

On October 17, the City Council approved the final development plan for renovation of an existing commercial bank building and special use permit for a drive up facility (Arby's Restaurant) for the property located at 16545 W. 159th Street (the former Standard Bank property). The applicant intends to renovate the interior of the building into two separate tenant spaces, one of the spaces will be an Arby's Restaurant featuring a drive thru and modern design. Arby's desires to have the modifications completed this year. 

Trick-or-Treating: Hours & Safey Tips

Trick-or-Treating hours are from 4-7 PM on Wednesday, October 31. Have a happy and safe Halloween! When you're out trick-or-treating, here are a few things to keep in mind: 
  • Cross at intersections with stop signs. Walk, don't run when crossing the street. Obey traffic signals and use cross walks. 
  • Drivers, be especially cautious and drive slowly, watching for pedestrians. 
  • Children should be accompanied by an adult. Travel in groups if possible.
  • Instruct children not to eat any treats until they bring them home to be examined by an adult. 
  • Bring a flash light, glow stick, or add reflective tape to costumes. 
  • Make sure costumes are the right size to prevent trips and falls.

The General Election is November 6, 2018. Early voting continues through Saturday, November 3 at the Lockport Township. The address and contact information for the Lockport Township Office is listed below. Please note: There is no early voting in City Hall. Visit the site below for early voting hours.
