Happy fall, friends!

The perfume of ripe pears is in the air here at the distillery as the harvest season winds down. This year, our incredible production team crushed and distilled nearly 400,000 pounds of Bartlett pears and is now hard at work making more of our flagship Pear Brandy and Spiced Pear Liqueur. Meanwhile...

RELEASE NEWS: LOT 18 OF ST. GEORGE SINGLE MALT WHISKEY

Lot 18 of St. George Single Malt Whiskey has begun making its way out into the world!

To create Lot 18, head distiller/blender Dave Smith selected a trove of barrels ranging 4–19 years in age—including used Kentucky bourbon barrels, used French oak wine casks, used Port casks, used rum casks, and used California Sauternes-style casks. As with every St. George Single Malt Whiskey release before it, Lot 18 is an elegant expression of single malt. On the nose, Lot 18 expresses cocoa, nutmeg, and honey. On the palate, find dark chocolate and a distinct brandied quality, as well as notes of Seville marmalade, toasted walnut, barley, and strong ale.

As this newsletter goes to press, orders for Lot 18 have already shipped out to our distributors all over the country and bottles are already starting to make landfall in California. Other states will soon follow suit. If you’re interested in finding a bottle of your own, more information about the rollout is here

RELEASE UPDATE: BREAKING & ENTERING AMERICAN WHISKEY

Our new Breaking & Entering American Whiskey is continuing to roll out all over the country, and the response so far has been terrific. If you’re interested in trying this new expression of B&E, we’d love to pour you a taste here at the distillery—or you could use our spirits locator to search for it at bars, restaurants, and retailers near you. Orders are still coming in from far and wide, so if the spirits locator doesn't return useful results for you yet, please bookmark the page or feel free to email us for a helping hand.

A TOAST

We usually conclude each newsletter with a featured cocktail, but we’re wrapping this one up on a somber note. We learned this morning of the passing of a friend who was a distilling superstar and so much more. Dave Pickerell was a tremendous force in the spirits industry for the better part of two decades, and his influence can be tasted in over one hundred whiskies. He could speak eloquently to both the chemistry and artistry of distillation, and was a big man in every sense of the word. He will be missed.

We’ll be raising a glass of Dave's Farmstock Rye tonight, and hope you’ll join us in a toast in his honor.
