LandAid Campaign seeking donations to end youth homelessness
Today the 1st November 2018 is LandAid Day and Belfast City Hall will be lit in the LandAid charity's company colour purple by The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Northern Ireland (RICS). This is to celebrate the charity's 150th anniversary and support their message and campaign to end youth homelessness.
This year over 80,000 young people in the UK will be homeless. RICS and LandAid aim to raise £2.25 million and deliver 150 bed spaces to overcome youth homelessness and are seeking donations.
With investment in the right support services and secure accommodation, young people can be protected from facing life in overcrowded hostels, moving from sofa to sofa or even on the streets.
Could you face sleeping outside for one night this November so a young person doesn't have to?
MACS are also encouraging you, your friends and colleagues to help reduce youth homelessness by organising a Sleep Out on the 15th November at South 13, Boucher Road.
It's your last chance to vote in the Inspirational Youth of the West 2018 awards which spotlights young people under 18 across West Belfast, as well as School Principals, Teachers, Classroom Assistants, Youth Leaders and Coaches.
The awards highlight young people and their outstanding achievements across 28 categories and will be celebrated with a gathering for celebration hosted by Barra Best at the Devenish Complex on Friday 9th November 2018.
Belfast City Council have announced multiple support grants you and your youth organisation may wish to apply for in areas including Good Relations, Support for Sport and Community Development.
These grants exist to assist your youth organisation and the development of young people.
