Midweek Prayer Message

Dear <<First Name>>,

This morning the people who attended the Tuesday Prayer Meeting met and prayed for the life of the Church, community and wider world.

Please join in giving thanks for:
  • Sunday Services - Richard Porter for his openness and humility. Paul Dunstan for his challenging unpacking of Scripture.
  • House groups and all small groups within our fellowship, the friendship and fellowship they provide and the safe space that they offer.
Please pray for the following people, places and situations over the next week:
  • Those feeling more isolated due to the adverse weather and darker days.The pastoral visitors who will bring company and comfort to them.
  • The Jewish community in Pittsburgh and similar communities around the world.
  • For the victims and their families and friends involved in the air crash in Indonesia and the helicopter crash in Leicester.
  • Safety on pavements and in cars as frost and ice come during winter.
  • People who are unwell at this time.
  • People with difficult memories at this time of year.
  • The Season of Invitation - for all the events planned and for all those who will be invited to come.
Today's prayers from the Methodist Church prayer handbook and website are:

Come, O Christ the Light, and lead us. Come, O Christ the Life, and revive us. Come, O Christ the Physician and heal us. Come, O Christ the Fire Divine, and kindle in our hearts the flame of your love. Amen.

Dimitrii of Rostov (1651-1709)

The Scottish year sees a landscape transformed:
the green of summer gives way to hills of purple and trees of gold;
winter browns are capped with falls of snow before the cycle begins again with the miracle of spring.
God unchanging and yet ever-new, may the seasons of our lives be transformed by your Spirit.
In our autumns may we be touched by the purple and gold of the king of kings;
in our winters may we be touched by the promise of the spring of resurrection;
as we see green shoots of new life may we pray for roots to go deep;
in the fullness of our summers may we look for a harvest to come.
