There is no sport like polo.  Be a part of it!
Arena Polo Lessons are offered in October - May.  Grass Polo lessons are offered June- Sept.  Group instruction is the ideal format in which riding and polo skills can be exercised within the context of actual play. Group sizes are small (max. of 6-8 students) to allow for individual attention. Private lessons are also available. Lessons proceed at the pace of the students. Each lesson includes an hour of mounted instruction on horsemanship and the rules and mechanics of playing polo, concluding with a scrimmage. Students are to arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to the lesson, for horse assignments. Horse & polo equipment are provided. Suggested attire for students is layered outerwear, boot w/1" heel and safety helmet.

"Our Polo Lesson Program is dedicated to serious students to attain their personal goals in learning to play polo.  Let us know what your aspirations are! "
FACILITIES: Polo lessons take place at Newport Polo's private outdoors training facility in Portsmouth, RI (not at Glen Farm) during Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, indoors in inclement weather, by appointment only. Directions provided upon registration for a class.

CONFIRMATION:  When you make a reservation, if you do not receive an email confirmation of your booking, then please email again and/or call the Polo Office (401)-847-7090 to ensure that your reservation was received and is confirmed.

OUR LOCAL WEATHER INFO: Here is a
link to our local weather, so you can check conditions in advance and wear appropriate outerwear layers.  If you have any doubts about the status of the lesson, feel free to call the Polo Office directly or check the 24-hour Info Line 401-846-0200 x2

CANCELLATION POLICY:   Reservations are accepted on an honor system.  While we understand that unforeseen circumstances can occur to cause a late cancellation, we ask for a minimum of 24-hour notice and the courtesy of a phone call or text to ensure that we received your notification in a timely manner to prevent delay of lesson, missed opportunity for other students, unnecessary horse prep, etc.   Since our class size is limited for your benefit, cancellations may result in being Wait Listed for future Lessons.

NEWCOMERS:  All new participants are required to complete a Wavier of Liability, in full; minors must have adult signatory.  New students are matriculated into the appropriate groups, based on skill level, throughout the seasonal session.  Each student receives individual instruction to bring them up to speed with the class.

The Newport Polo Club's lessons offer mounted instruction and coaching chukkers for a wide range of polo skill levels, from the casual equine hobbyist to the aspiring polo player to the intermediate player pursuing a higher handicap. Our instructors will help you achieve your personal goals.
