In this newsletter: Chillin' & Grillin' thank you and video, more ways to help through the end of the year (Nov 15th deadline for Stella & Dot orders) and a CF Update.
Thank you for an amazing Chillin' & Grillin' for a Cure

What an awesome time again this year. We LOVED seeing familiar faces and so thankful to all the new families that attended and those of you that invited your friends along. The smiles on the kids faces say it all - from morning to night, they warmed our hearts and helped us remember exactly why we host this event - to raise up the kids, provide an opportunity for them to see that they can make a difference in someones life. We humbly thank our families and our amazing planning committee and truly appreciate the mountain of work they do to make sure that both kids and adults have a great time. The culinary competitions were a hit and we loved all the participation and excitement that went along with the meatball and dessert competition. Congratulations to Rob Fazio for winning the meatball competition and to Becky McQuillan for securing people's choice and to Team Grace N Grandma Slanicky for their CF Oreo Balls that took the baking trophy this year!  To all those that donated money and auction items, to the volunteers and sponsors and teams that helped set up and take down, your donations of money and time helped make this event extremely successful and enjoyable. It's the one day a year we allow CF to be the cause of fun and we thank you for standing alongside us, near and far. The kids games, 9 square, tattoos, facepainting, selfie station, storytelling, baskets, food, drinks, music and everything else was just awesome. Our neighbor Matt put together the awesome slideshow below to capture some of the day and those smiles that say it all. xoxo

How you can help in 2018
  1. Through Nov 15th, shop Stella & Dot for your holiday gifts (jewelry, gorgeous tops and travel pouches/bags)! Think of the mom, wife, grandma, aunt, daughter or teacher in your life and buy them something special for Christmas. Use this link by November 15th and 50% of the commission will go to Eat. Pray. Dean.
  2. Call Langlois Insurance for an insurance quote and mention you are part of the Eat. Pray. Dean referral program (watch this short video for details).
  3. Make a tax deductible donation here.
Watch the 2018 Chillin' & Grillin' for a Cure Video! Thanks to Matt O'Hagan for putting this together for us!
A little CF update
  • One more CF check-up for Dean this year and overall from a CF perspective his health has been awesome. We found out in last quarter of the year that he has some environmental allergies which explains quite a lot that just did not make sense over the years. We have never welcomed the first frost moreso than this year with the hope that it will combat some of his allergies.
  • Each year there is a CF Conference in North America where some of the greats come together to discuss and share ideas on the latest advances in CF research, care, and drug development and to exchange ideas about ways to improve the health and quality of life for people with CF. We learned the CFF will invest $100 Million in Infection research. This is important because chronic infections in people with CF pose a greater risk for worsening lung disease and death. Many individuals also suffer severe side effects from long-term antibiotic use, such as hearing loss, and are at increased risk of developing antibiotic-resistant infections.
  • We also found out that important advances in the understanding of Inflammation Research is being made and that several drugs are in development to fight another complication -- the inability to clear mucus from the lungs.
  • We will still continue to fundraise and wish, pray and hope for a cure for CF; the real challenge now lies in keeping Dean consistent and focused on diligently maintaining his health so he is able to benefit from a cure once these brilliant CF scientists around the world find one.
