Hammonds Air Service History

I remember when Hammonds Air Service ran scheduled flights across the Gulf Coast.  Anyone remember what year this was because I don’t?  Later they even used Twin Otters.  Which reminds me, if you go to the Cajun Fly-in next Saturday make sure you go visit Charlie Hammonds' museum in his hangar.  You will enjoy it.

Louisiana Aviation License Plates

Would you like to have a “Louisiana Aviation” license plate on your vehicle?

It would be available to pilots, A&P Mechanics, inspectors, dispatchers, airport engineers, DOTD employees, airport management, employees of FBO’s and other businesses that support aviation and airfield operations, such as fuelers, catering and airport security, ….. essentially anyone that is a member of the Louisiana aviation community.

It would really help show that Louisiana Aviation is a very large and important community that touches all parts of this great state.

Please email Don Blanchard at Bayouair1@aol.com if you would be interested in obtaining one of these plates.  We need to have documentation that at least 1000 folks are interested in obtaining one of these plates before the state will make them available.  The current number of interested folks that have emailed Don is 260 so we are just over 25% of the way to the goal.  Please share this as widely as possible with your aviation friends.

See ALL of the Louisiana Aviation News

Occasionally someone asks me to include something in the Louisiana Aviation News and I do.  Then I got a note from them later asking me if I got the message because they didn’t see it in there.  I was puzzled because I knew it was there.

Then I realized what the problem was.

If you have a Gmail address and read it on certain kinds of devices, they only show you the beginning of the message and then cut off the end at some point. For example, if you read the last edition of the news on the Gmail App on an iPhone, the end of the email would have looked like this picture.

What you need to do to see the rest of the news email is to click on the blue writing that says VIEW ENTIRE MESSAGE.  Then the rest of the news email will appear…. which is this case is almost half of it including all of the Events for the Current Week, Coming Events, plus more.  Hope this helps.

Powered Parachute On Auction

Up for auction I have a 2001 Destiny 2000 Powered Parachute. This aircraft has only 23 hours and in excellent condition. It has a 65 hp Rotax 582 liquid cooled engine with a new battery. This is a two passenger craft and is ready to fly. As stated in the condition description, there is normal wear for an older aircraft (minor scratches, every part does not look brand new). Very safe and very fun to fly! This craft isn't perfect but is very close!

Buyer will be responsible for shipping or pickup. Also, I am willing to travel up to 150 miles from my location in order to meet the buyer if desired.
