Three Commitments for Trauma Informed Principals

Thinking back on my role as principal of a large urban elementary school, I am convinced that we were best able to support our students who were victims of trauma when we made three commitments to each other and to our students:

  1. Think beyond the moment.
  2. Be consistent.
  3. Keep learning.
With these three commitments in mind, principals and their leadership teams can shape the culture and practice of their schools to support all children--especially those who have suffered trauma.

CITY Center for Collaborative Learning is committed to helping you lead and enhance trauma informed practice at your school. For the complete article, click here.
