PhilRice E-newsletter October 2018

  Warm greetings!

It’s our pleasure to share with you our October e-newsletter issue. We hope that you’ll share it with your colleagues so they too will be updated on our latest researches and winnings.

In this issue, let’s get to know more about Mr. Roger F. Barroga, 2018 Pagasa Awardee, who has calibrated himself across disciplines. Read his story.

We’ve heard about drones, but would you encourage your farmer-partners to use it? Find out how drone technology can make farm practices faster without breaking the bank.

While the use of high quality seeds is being encouraged nationwide, PhilRice advances its research and development operations in Agusan and Ilocos Norte through recently completed new facilities.

Do you know who have visited us this month? Check out the Rice Science Museum and FutureRice Program pages. Our guests include Mr. Ryan Bedford, newly-installed ambassador agricultural attache of the US Embassy; agricultural engineers from the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand; Prof. Priyani A. Paranagama, director of the Institute of Indigenous Medicine from the University of Colombo; Hon. Rommel Padilla and the Nueva Ecija Farm Tourism Association; AgriDocs, farmers and prospective rice growers; and students.

Let’s also congratulate Mr. Xavier Greg I. Caguiat and Ms. Joanne D. Caguiat for their winning studies on rice germplasm and hybrid during the recent 2nd International Conference on Multidisciplinary Research. Our following researchers also won in the Best Poster category during the Bukluran: The 1st International Food Science & Nutrition Symposium:
