Every year VLM families contribute to teacher appreciation luncheons organized by the Teacher Appreciation Committee of the PTO. PTO CLASSROOM CANDY COLLECTION CONTEST

• Students may turn in unopened Halloween candy Thursday, November 1, through Thursday, November 7.  The candy will not be returned after the contest.
• The top three classes will have their total candy haul weighed during a live broadcast of the morning announcements.
• The classroom with the most candy collected (by weight) will win tickets to the trampoline park, Jump Cville, for the entire class! 
• The prize is sponsored by Crozet dentist, Dr. Dave Maybee, DDS.
• The last Candy Collection Contest yielded a whopping 386 pounds of candy!  Kids, eat your favorite candy and donate the rest!

CINDERELLA COMES TO MURRAY!
On November 1 at 1:15 pm, there will be a Richmond Ballet performance of Cinderella in the gym. Parents and siblings are welcome to attend! This performance is partially supported by a grant from Virginia Commission for the Arts and National Endowment for the Arts.

THE MURRAY HOLIDAY SHOP
Murray kids get to purchase holiday gifts from $1-$5 for their friends and family in December. The 5^th grade class gets to raise money for their end of the year class trip.  Yes it is a fund raiser but also a beloved Murray tradition. The fifth grade parents will be asked to provide 20 items per 5^th grader. We would also like to open it up to the Murray community, because making Christmas gifts is fun!  If you want to make something for the Murray Holiday shop, but aren’t a fifth grade parent, we would welcome it. We feel like it is an event in which the whole school benefits. It is an opportunity to spend time creating with your kids, as the students are strongly encouraged to make the items.  We just wanted to give a heads up. Don’t panic. Starting the last week of October, there will be a gift idea box in the lobby.  There will be holiday gift making ideas that I pulled from the Web.  Take one if you need one, or leave an idea to share. Let’s make it magical.
