From the Principal

Charlie EisenreichThis past Wednesday evening I had the privilege of attending the 2018 Leaders in Educational Excellence Awards banquet. Sponsored by Resource Training and Solutions, this event provides schools across Central Minnesota the opportunity to recognize outstanding classroom teachers for the extraordinary work they do each day. Tech’s recipients of the 2018 LEEA include Social Studies teacher Molly Denne, English Language instructor Leah Zook, and longtime Physical Education teacher Steve Taylor. Each of these exceptional teachers have demonstrated instructional effectiveness as well as a strong desire to connect with ALL students, making learning meaningful. Please join me in congratulating Molly, Leah, and Steve. Way to go!

In addition, congratulations to our fall activities teams for their successes on the court, fields, and pools. A special recognition goes out to our girl’s tennis team who once again won the section title and advanced to State competition. Tech girl’s tennis continues to be one of the top high school teams in Minnesota and I congratulate all team members for their remarkable run of success. Also, congrats to the Tech boy’s soccer team for advancing to the State tournament again. That’s the 3rd time since 2008 the boys have qualified for State. They likewise have established a strong competitive reputation among teams in class AA. Hats off to all of our teams and I look forward to a successful winter season. Go Tigers!

New Tech Update

Construction at the New Tech High School continues as many of the outdoor areas have taken their final shape. Seeding of athletic fields is complete and fencing around the site continues. Rain basins and surrounding areas are being planted with native seed. The Field Turf and track surface have been installed at the multi-purpose stadium. Check out the panoramic view of the field and track below. It looks absolutely amazing!

The exterior portions of the Learning Neighborhoods (classrooms) are likewise in the final stages of construction. Below is a picture of one of the Neighborhoods with the metal sheathing and windows in place. Interior metal stud walls are being framed in most of the areas with plumbing and electrical installation right behind.

The Tech HS Robotics Club won the championship at their first competition of the school year. The Robotics Club is made up of almost forty grade 9-12 students who make up seven teams at Tech HS. The goals for this year are to have fun, obtain STEM and soft skills, and make it to the State, Nationals, and World Tournament. A portion of these goals have already been achieved after the first tournament, since two of the Tech teams have already earned a State Invite and one Tech team earned a Nationals invite. The club always welcomes new members throughout the year. Visit Dr. Keil in Room 9 if interested in joining. The season will go through April this year.
