Press Release

Garage Validation Program extended through December 31, 2018 in the Short North Arts District

SHORT NORTH ARTS DISTRICT, COLUMBUS, OH - The Short North Alliance is excited to announce the pilot garage validation program has been extended through the 2018 holiday season.

The Short North Alliance, in collaboration with seven private garage and property owners in the Short North Arts District, have spend the last seven months piloting a garage parking validation program to help support more parking options for Short North Arts District businesses during 2018 and explore if there is customer interest for such a program to continue beyond 2018.

Similar to the popular parking validation program at the North Market, parking is discounted to just $1 for the first hour when customers park at a featured Short North Arts District parking garage and shop at participating Short North Arts District businesses from 9:00am-5:00pm daily through December 31, 2018.

We have learned a lot from this pilot program over the last seven months,” said Betsy Pandora, Executive Director of the Short North Alliance. “Participation in the program has increased, on average, by 30% each month it has been operational. By continuing the program through the end of 2018, we hope to continue to raise awareness of parking garage locations and help our daytime customers have more opportunities for parking during the 2018 holiday season."

Here’s how the program works:

  • Park in a featured garage from 9:00am-5:00pm from through December 31, 2018
  • Shop at participating Short North Arts District Businesses, found here
  • Get a validation sticker with purchase
  • Pay only $1 for the first hour of parking when leaving the District

Featured Garages and Participating Businesses by Promotional Period:

The Castle Parking Garage, on Second Avenue just west of High Street
The Hub Parking Garage, on Hubbard Avenue just east of High Street
The Joseph Parking Garage, on Russell Street between High and Park Streets

This pilot garage parking validation program is made possible with support from the The Pizzuti Companies; Borror; White Castle; Elford Development; Wagenbrenner Development; The Wood Companies; Schiff Capital Group; Kaufman Development; Crawford Hoying; and the City of Columbus.
