Sinatra Swing

Conductor Christopher Lees will be regaling the audience by playing standards made popular in the 1950s by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Bobby Darin, and others. Michael Andrew, who has been praised on Larry King Live as “one of the greatest singers of all time,” joins the Symphony to bring us back to the swinging, jazzy “good ole days”.

Based on the beloved 2003 New Line Cinema hit, Elf features songs by Tony Award nominees Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer), with a book by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone). IAVM Region 1 Meeting
Our Public Assembly Facility Managers attended the annual IAVM (International Association of Venue Mangers) meeting last week in Providence, RI. This meeting included keynote speakers and educational sessions, ending with a tour of the historic Providence Performing Arts Center.
Halloween Silent Film Night Nosferatu
Tuesday, October 30, 7:30pm @ Merrill Auditorium
Municipal Organist James Kennerley will open this concert with some appropriately spooky prelude music before beginning to improvise a thrilling soundtrack to accompany the classic 1922 horror film Nosferatu. Come in costume for a chance to win prizes as part of the annual costume contest!

Maine State Ballet’s annual holiday production of The Nutcracker features classic choreography, glorious sets and dazzling costumes with live music by the Maine State Ballet Orchestra conducted by Karla M. Kelley Brenner. Thirty professional ballet company members along with over two hundred local, Southern Maine dancers comprise the large cast!
Maine Red Claws at the Portland Expo
2018-19 Opener on Friday, Nov. 2nd @7pm vs Westchester Knicks 

Led by Brandon Bailey, who is entering his second season as head coach, and new Boston Celtics Two-Way Players P.J. Dozier and Walter Lemon, Jr., the Red Claws will look to win their fourth Atlantic Division title in the last five years.

36th Annual West End Halloween Parade
Wednesday, October 31st @ 6:30pm 
Grab the family and head to the Reiche School playground for a fun parade, starting with a puppet procession! The parade will end back at the playground with a party don't miss it!

Mannheim Steamroller Christmas

Directed & Co-Produced by Grammy award-winner Chip Davis, this show will feature the favorite Christmas music of Mannheim Steamroller along with state-of-the-art mulitmedia effects in an intimate setting.

Conductor Bruce Hangen returns to the stage for Maine’s favorite holiday tradition – The Magic of Christmas! This is the 39th year that Portland Symphony Orchestra is bringing this family-friendly concert to Merrill Auditorium in Portland, Maine. The Portland Press Herald praised last year's show with “soaring instrumental and vocal music, colorful lights and positive spirit …more than enough to make this year’s show another holiday treat.” Get your tickets today for this fun show!
The Victorian Nutcracker

This annual production by Portland Ballet has become a Maine holiday tradition and family favorite, telling a classic tale set in Victorian-era Portland. Over 80 children from the greater Portland community will join the company of dancers onstage!
