Muriel Spark and Peckham

2.30pm-4.30pm Sunday 4 November

Help us unravel "A Ballad of Peckham Rye" written by Dame Muriel Spark - this slim novel is full of intrigue, adultery, deceit and sex.  We won't be asking you to re-enact some of the bawdy scenes on Peckham, but we are asking you to re-imagine Peckham in the 1950s (see our plotting above).  Several buildings still exist and others have left tantalising traces.  On the walk you will also get to know a lot more about Muriel Spark, herself living up to several of the characters that she created.  Not only was she a resident of nearby Camberwell but she shopped in Jones & Higgins at the top of Rye Lane.
