“GIVE HR A CHANCE” URGES NEW HR SENIOR DIRECTOR


The Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) recently appointed Senior Director: Human Resources, Dr Vuyo Mthethwa says her immediate tasks include re-establishing the value of Human Resources within the institution, motivating her team to be customer-centric and to regroup the HR department.

“I think if people know what they need to do, take responsibility for what they are assigned to do and become customer-centric, then the HR department will be better positioned,” said Dr Mthethwa.

BTECH FASHION STUDENTS SHOWCASE THEIR DIGITAL AND CULTURAL DESIGNS


17 Durban University of Technology (DUT) Fashion and Textiles students showcased their BTech exhibition which is being held at the Durban Art Gallery (DAG) from 24 October to 25 October 2018. The students created their designs for the exhibition which forms part of their annual practical component.

According to Nirma Dolly Madhoo-Chipps BTech co-ordinator for Fashion, there were a diverse range of topics covered by the 2018 students with a thematic approach, all having contemporary socio-cultural relevance.

HIV AND AIDS CENTRE RECOGNISES STUDENTS FOR THEIR CREATIVE CONTRIBUTION IN THE SILENT PROTEST


“It’s an honour to win and to be recognised for the little effort that we put into our University,” said Nhlakanipho Zulu, Durban University of Technology (DUT) Interior Design student, who won the first prize.

DUT HIV and AIDS Centre Manager, Thobile Zulu thanked students for their effort in helping the Centre with T-Shirt designs and the wonderful messages made for silent protest that was held on O3 October 2018, at DUT Steve Biko Campus.

FACULTY OF ARTS & DESIGN HOSTS WORKSHOP FOR EMERGING RESEARCHERS


The Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Faculty of Arts and Design (FoAD) recently hosted an Emerging Researchers Workshop, which was aimed at informing postgraduate students about opportunities available for them in the world of academic research.

Titled, “Eyethu: Emerging Researcher Day” the workshop was held at DUT’s City Campus, and was organised by FoAD’s Research Office.
