NURTURING SOULS - On October 12, SDI held a free teleconference call for all those affected by the divisive anger and suffering spreading around us. With Karen Erlichman, Ravi Verma and Cynthia Bailey Manns holding space, SDI created a sacred listening circle for spiritual companions. Dozens of you signed up. Many asked for another session. What’s your story? It’s a question we are often asked in everyday conversations, and one that is of primary concern to those of us in the ministry of spiritual direction. One of the primary reasons that people often seek out a spiritual director is they need help making meaning of their story, that is, nurturing awareness of how God, or however they name the ground of all being, is at work in their lives.
In this workshop, to be held at Mercy Center in Burlingame, California, USA September 28-29, 2019, Dr. Diane Millis will introduce us to three different stances for mining the meaning of our life’s story, and the role that a spiritual director can play in facilitating movement from one stance to the next.
During our time together, we as spiritual companions will begin by examining the story each of us is currently authoring about our lives and then prayerfully consider a more life-giving story waiting to be told. Click here to learn more and register.
