Drug Take Back - Saturday, October 27

Numerous studies have shown prescription medication is the primary way most addicts get hooked on opiates.  Don't expose your family or friends to the risk of addiction hiding in your house.  The Loveland Police Department and the Loveland Educating Against Alcohol and Drugs (LEAAD) team have partnered with the Drug Enforcement Agency to collect any unused, expired, or unwanted medications.  On Saturday, October 27, you can safely dispose of medications at the Loveland Safety Center and the Loveland Elementary School from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  These locations only accept pills and tablets.  They will not accept creams, patches, injectables, or other forms of medications.

Simple Recycling

The City is pleased to announce that commencing in early November, Simple Recycling will be providing at no cost, curbside textile recycling service.  Textiles include: clothing, footwear, accessories, towels, bedding, drapery, etc.  Items that cannot be collected include: appliances, furniture, tires, paint, carpeting, mattresses, traditional recyclables (metal, glass, paper), and hazardous waste.  The service will follow the same schedule and route structure as the recycling pick-up to include one pick-up per month.

Eligible Participants include only single-family households.  Multi-tenant occupancies with dumpsters are not eligible.  The initial distribution of the bags will come by way of traditional mail with a post card.  Those eligible and desiring to participate in the service will then mail the postcard back to Simple Recycling.  Eligible participants are issued two orange plastic bags per month on a recurring month-to-month basis.  To learn more about Simple Recycling click here.

City Receives Grant for McCoy Park Improvements

The Clermont County Park District has awarded the City of Loveland a $14,000 grant to repair, resurface, and restripe basketball and tennis courts at McCoy Park. The total project cost came in at $19,000. The City will cover the remaining $5,000 to complete the project in 2019.

In 2017, McCoy Park received a new playset and picnic shelter through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources NatureWorks Grant, and the City completed parking lot repairs in 2018.

Fire Sprinkler Installation Assistance Program

At their October 23 meeting, City Council approved a program that would incentivize owners of commercial, office and industrial structures to retrofit existing buildings with fire sprinkler systems by waiving connection, permit and inspection fees. The purpose of this program is to protect structures within the City by offsetting a portion of the expenses related to installing a sprinkler system into an existing building.  City Manager David Kennedy stated that, "Any added fire protection to the City's commercial, industrial or office building stock is added safety to the community, it's occupants and our firefighters."

Fall Leaf and Brush Collection

Loveland’s 2018 Fall Leaf Collection will begin on October 15 this year. Leaf collection during this period will be done by a City crew using mechanical equipment similar to a vacuum cleaner. Residents are instructed to rake leaves to a place near the street or curb. Do not place leaf piles on the sidewalk, gutters, ditches, roads, or blocking fire hydrants.  To view the leaf collection schedule click here.  You may notice that your leaves have not all fallen before the leaf collection date comes. This is because there are many neighborhoods for one reach before the first snowfall. We do our best to go back to neighborhoods one additional pass to pick up remaining leaves.

The 2018 Fall Brush Collection program will begin on Tuesday, November 13. Brush must be placed at the curb no later than Monday night, November 12.  Please review the requirements for brush collection by clicking here.  Any material not meeting these requirements will not be collected and will be left at the curb.  If you are unable to meet this schedule, residents are encouraged to come to City Hall to get a free voucher to drop off any yard waste to Evans Landscaping.  Wood chips will be available again this year by calling 513-707-6114.
