Public Art
Acre Ave Public Art Commission, Morphett Vale

Adelaide artist Sam Songailo was recently selected to further develop his concept proposal for artwork installations along Acre Ave, Morphett Vale. Three artists were shortlisted for this permanent public art installation to support road safety awareness in conjunction with a recent council streetscape upgrade undertaken to improve safety for children attending Morphett Vale Primary School.

Sam is currently working on design development for his idea to create changeable artwork responses using flip-dot technology, with content created collaboratively with school children. Sam writes “I hope to create a narrative around the site that evolves over time and achieves a prolonged engagement with the users of the space…I have developed a concept that ties in to the rhythm of movement in the area…”
Artwork is planned for installation in late January 2019.

For updates on this and other public art projects please visit our website.
