Leadership Update
October 26, 2018
by Ashley Camhi, Executive Director

Hello all,

I hope that you are doing well. The holiday season is coming soon and with that we are getting close to our favorite day of the year: #GivingTuesday!

For those of you that have not participated in #GivingTuesday in the past, it is the first Tuesday after Black Friday. This year it will be on November 27th.

#GivingTuesday is a global movement that opens the end of the year giving season for nonprofits. We participated last year and raised $5,000. Our goal this year is to raise $15,000.

We just passed 1.5 years as a nonprofit and we have a lot to celebrate. Vertical gardens going into the entire Fowler Elementary School District, fall tree plantings in Tempe, new relationships built with cities in the West Valley, and so much more.

We hope that you will consider donating to AZSA on #GivingTuesday.

Thanks,
Ashley

Sustainable Food Systems – Weekly Update – October 25, 2018

We completed our second successful Help-A-Farm project on Sunday, October 21 at the St. Vincent de Paul Urban Farm in Phoenix. We learned all about the farm, and how they use the fresh produce to stock their kitchen and feed vulnerable populations. Our volunteers helped plant avocado trees, spinach, tomatoes, cabbage, sunflowers and garlic. We also cleaned the greenhouse and land to help the farm prepare for a big event. It was a great day! Thank you to all the volunteers who came out to help. If you’d like to help in future farm projects, please contact gabrielle.pettit@azsustainabilityalliance.com

Our Food Systems Monthly Meeting will be held this Friday, October 26 from 6-7 PM at The Churchill in Downtown Phoenix: 901 N 1st St, Phoenix, AZ 85004.
This is a great opportunity to hear more about what our priority is up to, and learn how you can help!
