Dear <<First Name>>,

The planning application for the 30 storey hotel next to Westferry Station was passed by the council last night.

This was in spite of the significant local concerns and failure to meaningfully address issues around height, light, density, traffic, the impact on community infrastructure and conservation areas.

Many thanks if you came to the committee meeting last night. I also want to pay tribute to local residents Helen Kenney and Inti Van Ritchie who put across objections on behalf of the community so well.

Many thanks too if you signed the petition. This will now be passed on to the Greater London Authority, who also have to agree the plan and the planning inspectorate if the developers continue to pursue their appeal for the 37 storey plans.

There are still other hurdles for the development to jump as well as matters like land ownership and Community Infrastructure Levy to be ironed out- so watch this space ...

Yours sincerely,

James King
Labour Councillor for Limehouse
