Let's ROC 2018!

2018/10/26

The Russian Open DanceSport Championships (ROC) have considerable tradition. Organised in late October by three different national governing bodies over the past decade, these championships seem to gain momentum with every year that passes. Russia is a DanceSport nation par excellence. One only needs to turn to the result section of the WDSF website to get a grasp of the Russian dancers' dominance in virtually every discipline.

The ROC are the perfect occasion for some of them to shine at their brightest in fierce competition against opponents from almost 50 different countries. Follow the GrandSlam Latin as well as Standard through the "Live from Moscow" blog or enjoy the live webcasts on FloDance. Delayed coverage on the World Cups in Rock 'n' Roll and Boogie Woogie, both held in Moscow on 27 October, will also become available.

We Read You, You Watch Us!

2018/10/26

We release the GrandSlam Moscow Magazine with an article on the over-the-top platform FloDance that offers extensive live and highlight coverage on many WDSF events at a rate of US$ 12.50 per month, provided an annual subscription is taken out. There are viewers who were regulars on Vimeo and who consider the subscription formula to be unreasonably expensive. We were finally able to process all their feedback and to present our arguments in favour of what we believe are reasonable charges.

During the month of October alone, the FloDance audiences were/are able to watch four World Championships - the World Latin plus two for Senior I and one for U-21 - two GrandSlams and an array of other competitions such as World Opens, Opens, etc. in the different age groups. The rental fees for the six top-tier competitions alone would have amounted to US$ 22.50. That is US$ 10 more than the monthly subscription rate. And we plan on keeping up a pace throughout the year to make it a fair deal for FloDance subscribers.

GrandSlam Latin Moscow

2018/10/26

FloDance's Michelle Blank takes a sneak peek at the GrandSlam Latin, which got underway on Friday 26 October and concludes on Saturday 27 October, when the rounds three through seven, the final, get danced at the Crocus Expo. 241 couples entered the last regular leg of the 2018 GrandSlam Latin Series. That is comparable to the participation in Stuttgart, GER, back in August.

With the first GrandSlam after the 2018 World Latin three weeks ago in Ostrava, CZE, the newly crowned Champions Armen Tsaturyan and Svetlana Gudyno return to their hometown Moscow with plenty of glory and a winning streak that started back in January 2018 and comprises three GrandSlam victories. However, after they missed Stuttgart, they needed to dance here to reach the required four regular legs to be eligible for the GrandSlam Finals in Shanghai.
