Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord
your God will be with you wherever you go.

NO SCHOOL MONDAY, NOV. 12 FOR VETERANS DAY

Veterans Day Assembly
This past Wednesday we set aside our normal focus on Proverbs to wisely honor veterans.  Ms. Kim Ramirez, former Marine and Reservist, joined us to share about how she served our country.  Mr. Bob Evans, a former PHCS Grandpa also shared some of his experience serving our country in the Army.  Our favorite part of the assembly was the chance each student had to look these veterans in the eye and shake their hands to say "thank you for your service".  We are humbled by the sacrifice and courage our men and women in uniform offer each day, both past and present.  Don't forget we are observing Veteran's Day on Monday, November 12th and will not be having school.

Strong Parents Needed TODAY
TODAY, do we have some strong parents willing to come before dismissal time (maybe 12:30pm) to help us move the music risers from the Parent Shed into the Assembly Room?  We will be using the risers for Special Person's Day next Friday and would love to get them set up for practice a week early.

Operation Christmas Child
Shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child are due this coming Wednesday, November 14th!  Items our students have collected will be packed by our Sixth Grade Leaders as a service project.  Thank you for sharing the Good News of Christmas with a little child across the globe this year by participating!  It really makes a difference and reinforces generosity in our children!

School Calendar Adjustments!
Mark your calendars for the following adjustments:  December 6th we will be holding our school day at Bayside Church because we traditionally dedicate that day to Christmas Program Practice while our schoolhouse is getting all set up for the Holiday Home Tour (December 7-9 this year).  Teachers will greet students in the lobby at Bayside Church at 9AM but our school day will only go until noon.  Some years we have stayed to eat lunch and watch a movie but this year we are officially dismissing at noon!  Please make note of it!

Also, on December 19th, the day after our evening Christmas Program, we will be having an optional "late start" to the school day.  You may still bring your child to school at 8:45 but the school day will not officially start until 10:00AM, allowing a little extra rest to get going.

Special Person's Day on Friday, November 16
Your child will be sent home today with a letter introducing Special Person's Day and an invitation for your child to send to the person he/she wants to invite.  Every year this is one of the most enjoyable activities for our students as they invite someone who is not daily connected to our school and share the love of PHCS.  If you are new to our school this year, make sure you read the letter and ask someone who has been at our school so you are ready for the big day coming up next month!

If you would like your child to go home with his/her Special Person, please communicate that to the office or teacher by next Wednesday.
Christmas Craft Party AFTER Special Person's Day

Stay after school on November 16th 1:30-4pm to help us fluff the Christmas wreaths and do crafting activities for Holiday Home Tour.  There will be free after school childcare provided by Emily See (Mrs. See's 18 year old daughter) outside.  There is a limit of 15 kiddos so email Mrs. See to let her know if you want to be on the list.  First Come, First Served.  Here's the link to sign up! Dads in Prayer!
Thank you to the Dads & Grandpas who came out early this last week to pray for our students, the teachers, and the community!  We had a couple of new dads and we want to say how grateful we are for your involvement!

Christmas Program Dec. 18
Beautiful singing can be heard from the Assembly Room each Wednesday afternoon because we are already preparing for our Christmas Program on December 18th at Bayside Santa Rosa (formerly known as Redwood Covenant Church).  Please mark your calendars.  The program starts at 6:30 and usually is about an hour in total.  Parents will need to have their student at the church at 6pm that evening.  Can't wait to celebrate Christmas with you!
