WWF-DRC is very pleased to announce the launch of its new website in the DRC. The launch of this new bilingual - French & English - website meets an imperative, that of delivering information to all audiences both in the Democratic Republic of Congo and around the world in a sustainable way.
At Bekongo, Salonga National Park’s training site, 50 rangers participated in a 45-day intensive training where they practice routines that will help them to carry out anti-poaching patrols to help end wildlife crime.
The training included physical training sessions as well as lectures on bio-monitoring and legal aspects with emphasis on human rights.
WWF supports the installation of the Forest Advisory Council in the province of Equateur
WWF has offered support to the process of installation of the Forest Advisory Council in the province of Equateur in October 2018. WWF-DRC Forest Governance Program Manager Jean-Marie Bolika said his organization is committed to mobilizing other partners in the forestry sector to support the activities of the Forest Advisory Council recently set up. 30 October 2018: WWF releases the Living Planet Report 2018
On October 30, 2018, WWF published its Living Planet Biennial Report. This WWF report reveals the staggering extent of human impact on the planet. According to the Living Planet Index, populations of vertebrate species have, on average, declined by 60% in just over 40 years.
WWF built the first rangers’ station in Itombwe Nature Reserve
WWF opens the first rangers’ patrol station in Itombwe Nature Reserve in South Kivu. This station was built by WWF with financial support of USAID under CAFEC project, and has been inaugurated on 31 October 2018 in the presence of the ICCN Managing Director's Representative and provincial authorities..
Solar and efficient energy for Salonga National Park Headquarters
Salonga National Park's Headquarter in DRC now has its own Smappee to measure electricity consumption and help to select the best renewable energy solution for the offices of Africa's biggest rainforest park.
