Silver Miller, a leading cryptocurrency investor law firm, has announced it has filed lawsuits against AT&T and T-Mobile on behalf of crypto asset holders who were allegedly victims of “SIM swapping”; the suit alleges that by leaving holes in their security protocols, and failing to train and monitor employees adequately, the phone providers assisted criminals in remotely taking over smartphone SIM cards, allowing them to access financial records and account information to steal cryptocurrency and other assets - Link
U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has charged the founder of EtherDelta, Zachary Coburn, with running an “unregistered national securities exchange”; the SEC explained that EtherDelta's users have processed over 3.6M orders for ERC20 tokens during an 18-month period, including those that are defined as securities under the federal securities law - Link
Global cryptocurrency and CFD trading platform eToro announced the release of its own cryptocurrency wallet; last month eToro became the first platform to offer fiat trading of cryptocurrency exchange Binance’s in-house token Binance Coin; the wallet will at first provide support for Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum and Litecoin - Link
Crypto exchange Coinbase is adding web browser Brave's Basic Attention Token (BAT) to its retail trading platform, less than a week after listing it on Coinbase Pro; the exchange noted that "BAT will be available for customers in most jurisdictions, but will not initially be available for residents of the state of New York - Link
ConsenSys’ blockchain startup Kaleido and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have launched a full-stack platform that helps enterprises implement blockchain solutions; dubbed Kaleido Marketplace, the platform reportedly “eliminates 80 percent of the custom code” needed to build a given blockchain project by providing an array of full-stack tools and protocols that are “plug-and-play,” spanning needs from back-end development to front-end app UI - Link
Canadian Bank VersaBank announced that its new cryptocurrency 'Deposit Box', VersaVault, has successfully completed beta testing; the digital-only bank plans to offer the virtual lockbox to cryptocurrency exchanges and crypto investment funds to store digital assets; VersaBank enlisted Gurpreet Sahota, formerly the principal architect of cybersecurity at smartphone maker Blackberry, to spearhead the project back in January - Link
The Winklevoss brothers lost a round in a court against the former BitInstant CEO Charles Shrem; Judge Jed Rakoff has ruled to end the freeze on Charlie Shrem’s assets; this comes after the Winklevoss twins allege that Shrem took part of their $250K investment in his exchange BitInstant to buy ₿5K; Sherm served a year in prison for helping users of the now-defunct Silk Road marketplace make illegal purchases - Link
The Maple Ridge-based tech company Left has teamed up with the University of Guelph to launch a $2.1M project with Mitacs to spread Mitacs’ patented mobile mesh network to a wide range of remote communities in Canada; the partnership is incorporating “120 graduate student internships over five years, from universities across Canada”; Left and Mitacs are providing the majority of the funding for this project, while the cooperation of universities across Canada will lay the groundwork for an ambitious connectivity project - Link
