Last Weekend and This Weekend at GHC
What a Saturday it was last weekend at GHC!
The Ladies 1s won their 6th match out of 6 against a strong Surbiton side.
And they warmed up the pitch nicely for the Men's 1s who followed on the Water pitch and won their match 7-1!
Both teams are topping their tables - long may the hard work and success continue.
The Ladies 4s are also smashing their league table for the moment, undefeated.
We had a series of England Hockey Junior Championship games on Sunday, resulting in 6 wins, a draw and 2 losses.
This weekend the Ladies 1s are away to Marlow in an early season top of table clash (both teams on 18 points but GHC ahead on goal difference). And the Men's 1s are away to Eastbourne who are sitting third behind GHC and Trojans.
Many Junior league and friendly matches will be honouring a minute silence on Sunday ahead of or during their matches in honour of Remembrance Sunday.

Rest In Peace, Michael Stevenson
GHC are sad to inform our readership that long-time Vice President, member and supporter of GHC, Michael (Mike) Stevenson died a few weeks ago.
Mike joined Guildford Hockey Club in 1969 and played for the First team, he then captained the Second Eleven and subsequently he became First Team Manager as a result of the club winning the HA Cup and playing in the European Club Championship. During his stewardship the club enjoyed unprecedented success both at home and in Europe.

Friday Night Food Changes For Frosty Evenings
As the winter period draws nearer we are offering food from inside the club house on Friday evenings.
There will be a wider range of offerings with a bar menu including jacket potatoes, hot dogs, chicken and chips and specials!
We will also be able to offer take aways, too!
So, come up to the bar and enjoy the atmosphere of the Friday evening at Guildford Hockey Club. You can also chat to members of the 1st XI’s as they are going to be serving most Fridays!!!
Many thanks to Andrew Fergusson who is a huge help in organising this for the benefit of busy GHC families! Fantastic service to the club!

Hawkinsport Kit Sale Friday 30 November at GHC
They will have a full range of GHC kit (tracksuit bottoms, sweatshirts, hats, tops, skorts, shorts, socks etc)
as well as a range of sticks, stick bags, and other hockey accessories.
They have the ability to print player numbers onto shirts on site.

First Aid Courses - New Dates - Book Now
Each squad/team needs good coverage of First Aid, preferably two certificated people per team/squad, so that at any time there is someone on site with an up to date First Aid certificate and knowledge.
First Aid courses are available through the Club. These courses give a certificate that is valid for three years and includes Defibrillator training.
Please email Michelle to let her know if you are interested in becoming a First Aider – courses run in the evenings at the Club.
Once completetd, the course can be used as CPD in the work place. We ask for £35 towards the course while the Club pays two thirds of the fees. If money is going to stop you doing the course then please speak to Michelle.
The dates for the next 'Emergency First Aid at Work' course are:
- Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 November 6pm-9:30pm
- Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 January 6pm-9:30pm
You will need to be able to attend both evenings on either course 1 or 2 to complete the course and get the certificate.
The Courses will be taught by AJM First Aid Training
