Public Charge Tool-kit
Last week the Food Bank sent out an Advocacy Action Alert regarding the proposed Public Charge rule changes.
On October 10, the Department of homeland Security (DHS) published a proposed “public charge” rule in the Federal Register. The proposed rule drastically redefines what being a “public charge” means, with adverse consequences for immigrants that would negatively impact all of our communities.
The proposed rule is currently in a 60-day public comment period. From October 10 – December 10, 2018, anyone from the general public may weigh in on the proposed changes. After December 10, the Department of Homeland Security will read and consider all unique comments submitted to the Federal Register.
In the last email, we asked you to make a public comment opposing these proposed changes.
This week, we would like to share with you some more resources to help you, and those you serve, navigate these proposed changes.
