Posted by Keturah Hetrick on Nov. 5, 2018 A colorful playboy and fugitive Malaysian banker recently indicted by the Justice Department for money laundering has hired two teams of foreign agents. Low Taek Jho, often known as Jho Low, signed contracts with disputes and investigations law firm Kobre & Kim and reputation and privacy law consultancy Schillings International late last week, just as the DOJ handed down charges against Low. Low is one of several bankers, including two ex-Goldman Sachs employees, charged in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal, in which billions of dollars were allegedly stolen from the state-owned investment fund. New York-based Schillings and Kobre & Kim are providing largely unspecified "legal and consulting" advice surrounding the banker's legal proceedings, according to a pair of recent DOJ filings.
