Autumn is Upon Us!
Happy fall everyone! We hope you're enjoying the chilly weather, changing leaves, colorful sunsets, and the special foods that come with the season's holidays.
The semester has been flying by here, but it's not over yet! As we prepare for finals and a much needed break, let's take a look at what's happened with WGSS since the spring.

Adventures and Achievements
|
|
There's no such thing as a "slow day" in the field of Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies. The same can be said of the department during the academic year!
Throughout the year, our department members are always busy, inside and outside of the classrooms. Read more about them below! Thanks to all of them for making the department a wonderful place:

Triota: On a Roll!
To say that Triota, WGSS' Honor Society at OSU, has been busy this semester is an understatement! Here's what they've been up to this year so far:
- Hosting their 3rd Annual Feminist Spoken Word Night
- Inviting WGSS graduate students to host Teach-Ins at monthly meetings
- Hosting Decolonized Friendsgiving- themed this year to be more conscious of the politics of food. Each member chose un-Americanized recipes from the country of their ancestors or a region of interest and prepared a "decolonized" dish to share that considered the use and history of ingredients
- Holding a Partner Thrift Challenge event- members challenged each other to grab a partner and go thrifting while promoting environmental consciousness and justice
- Doing a feminist resistance photoshoot and social gathering to build community and cross-WGSS course info-sharing
- Brainstorming the creation of a WGSS academic journal to showcase important department work to fellow students, faculty, and the OSU community at large
"We have lots of plans for next semester! Keep an eye out for our Triota clothing-swap fundraiser, more political activist button sales, and speakers of various sorts. We want to invite WGSS majors/minors/friends to both consider joining and check out our organization by attending events!" - Sam Turner, Triota Secretary and Senior Member
