The In-Street Planters Are On Their Way

Word has it that this Thursday, November 8, construction will begin on the in-street planters at four selected intersections in HV — Borden@Lennox, Major@Sussex, Major@Ulster and Borden@Ulster. Those ugly concrete planters will be emptied of their plants and replaced by in-ground replacements complete with good soil, a shade tree and shrubs. Come spring, neighbourhood gardeners will finish the planting. The goal is to improve traffic management, enhance stormwater management, and create a more beautiful streetscape. If all goes well, construction will be completed by the end of the month. Special Hoorays go to Jennette Boehmer who has shepherded this project through the maze of city planning to get it to this point.

For background information and to find out what all those dots on the road mean, visit the HVRA website

Please be cautious and patient as you navigate the construction areas.
