MESSAGES FROM THE HEART

NEXT STEP IN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Lilongwe, Malawi … The establishment of Action for Progress, has taken place to partner with the Malawi Project in distribution of aid throughout Malawi. In this multiple faceted program, the next steps have included a

move to Lilongwe by Wilson Tembo, the Executive Director, and his family, and the selection of a suitable land site. With its five member Board of Directors in place, and the move to the capital city by Tembo complete, attention turns to fund raising for the construction of the distribution hub and work center needed to complete the next phase.

TOUR LILONGWE,
THE CAPITAL CITY

Lilongwe, Malawi … Entering Capital Hill the visitor experiences wide through-fares, green plush surroundings, and modern government buildings, as compared to the portion of the city near the Lilongwe

River known as Old Town. It is in sharp contrast to the area in the valley near the Lilongwe recognized as the original part of Lilongwe, the old trading center of decades past. Here the buildings are jammed together, street venders and crowds fill the sidewalks, and the rapid pace of commerce creates long lines and traffic gridlock.

WALKING THE FIELDS
OF PROGRESS

Chandiwo Village, Malawi … The success of the first three Joseph Project grain storage programs are meaningful within themselves. However, the real success is much more than just a single storage

building, as important as these buildings are to the overall success of the programs. Success takes root well before the completion of the grain storage facility.  It begins in the villages, the churches, and the community development agencies that surround and serve communities where the building will be located. Success begins to flower when these groups combine resources, expertise and person power to create farm co-operatives.

CREATIVE MIND

I could not help but believe one or more of them were out there, I just could not recognize this future leader.”
