Race Report - Triple Sprint  4/11

A slightly different format for the triple sprint race last Sunday. A great turnout with 67 racking their bikes in a compressed and tight transition area.

The Girls headed off in 1 group making the boys wait 5 minutes before their departure. A ripping good tussle took place with Shannon OHara and Mel Silvester keep each other honest , Shannon finally prevailing by a slender 1:45.
Joey Sullivan, a first time visitor claimed 3rd placing. Jo Fergusson found early form after her extensive holidays, and Rachael,Hennessy from Moree completed her first ever triathlon, a super effort.

Alira Jade continues improving her times, and a big welcome to Janine Watson as a new club member.
Caron Mackie had a great race , while Carla Croaker, claimed the days biggest smile, and also had 3 great splits, just finishing in front of Katrina McFarlane who continues to impress.
Great to see Hanna Legge back again after her first race 2 weeks ago, she loves it and we will see more of Hanna this season.
Awesome effort from the girls that opted for a shorter effort with a mix of 1 and 2 legs.

The Men's race was won easily by Isaiah Koopmans , streaking the field to finish 6min:30 in front of Matt Moffat who had a his hands full keeping Mick Ylinen off his back, just 12 seconds apart...... great racing lads.

2 x IM Mark Garner headed into the last run leg in 7th, but his wise head and a mini challenge to race down Shaun Bayndrian and Glen Price saw him pinch 4th spot.

Awesome race from Moree resident Tony Burgin , Ed Brazier was solid as always, and Craig Busby had a great hitout
Phil Viles made up huge ground after a tyre change in transition, Glen Barnett ,Craig Allen, Mark McLaughlin all had good races
Huge effort from Lachy Marle to do the 3 legs as a junior, Pete Birch and Ian Nash
were solid from the get go.

Bryan Van der Walt sacrificed his race to lend a hand and helped John Widdowson around, top marks Bryan. Kenny Crabb and trains just don't go together , held up again this year, while Rod and Sheldon Koopmans had a fierce battle, the young buck prevailing by a slender 17 seconds.Welcome back Mick Stubbs, great to see you out on course again..

Well done to everyone today, perfect conditions for the sprint distance event. Big thanks to the volunteers for turning up on time and making the morning run smoothly , and to our junior helpers, Digger, Maddy on drinks and Jorja for doing the camera work with JR and Jen Booth. Photos are great, well done.

Massive applause to those that competed at Noosa. Choppy waters and a warm run made it a tough day at the office.

Focus turns to Yamba on Nov 17 for the inter club challenge, good luck to those representing the Coffs Rockets.
On the same weekend, A group of 14 head 9hrs north for the Hervey Bay 100. Some stepping up to the distance for the first time, some are heading back again to relive past glories, all 14 looking forward to the free stein of cold liquid to help kick start the rehydration process.

What ever you are aiming for, train safe
