With a place to call home:
- children of all ages have a consistent school to attend where they build lifelong relationships with friends and teachers
- veterans suffering with combat-related injuries emerge from the shadows of their encampments and now are able to maintain regularly scheduled medical and mental health appointments
- moms and dads, single adults have a stable, safe foundation to find employment and follow their educational and career dreams.
From July 1 - October 31, 2018, close to 500 families (and 81 kids) already received emergency shelter or help establishing a home with supportive services. Our programs are full. In October alone, 74 single adults and 62 families, including a family with an 11 day old baby, sought assistance that we could not provide.
The solution: we need more affordable housing units. As a CHM Sister recently said, "The need for more affordable housing cannot be overstated We just don't have enough housing for people who need it!"
Your support helps fill the gap. Please visit our new website www.humilityhomes.org for ways to support our participants. Or call John De Taeye, HHSI Development Director, at 563.326.1330 or j.detaeye@humilityhomes.org for more information.
Warm regards,
